to see how incredible Italy is”

MADONIE

MADONIE

OUR ROOTS

In these isolated, inaccessible and wild areas, with a particular pedoclimatic conditions, “heroic” wines are born and grow, without any environmental contamination.

The “Madonie”, located in the Sicilian inland between the areas of Palermo and Enna are a mountain area characterized by the presence of farms that for tradition and respect for the cycles of nature grow cereals, vegetables in the open field, oil and seasonal fruit without using herbicides, fertilizers and chemical treatments, determining a healthy territory that transfers to all products of its land excellent qualities.

The presence of bees, cows and sheep in free pasture bring back to a “world of the past”, which still guarantees long life to the inhabitants of the place. The “Madonie”, in fact, could be configured as the “Sixth Blue Zone” of the Planet in whose prestigious club of the long-lived are numbered Okinawa in Japan, Loma Linda in California, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Icaria in Greece and the province of Nuoro in Sardinia.

GANGI

GANGI

Ogni cani è liuni na sò casa.
(Every man is stronger in is own home)

Elected “Most beautiful village in Italy 2014” and “Village jewel of Italy 2012”, Gangi is a small village near Palermo of seven thousand inhabitants of the upper Madonie. Located in the western hinterland of Sicily, 1.000 meters above sea level, it is not far as the crow flies from the Etna volcano to the east and the Mediterranean Sea to the north, both visible on the horizon. It is still a little known place, far from the mass tourism routes.

In this context, Tenuta San Giaime is already an active part of the Slow Food Pipeline and, since 2015, has been included among the wine routes in Sicily by MTV (Wine Tourism Movement), allowing wine lovers to discover this pearl nestled in the Sicilian mountains.

ALESSIO

ALESSIO

It’s in the family estate that I spent all my summers, beginning since childhood to know the vineyards of Syrah that, with so much passion and a little less technique, cultivated my grandfather Gaetano.

Entrepreneur, born in 1984 and raised in Milan, with Gangi’s family and origin.

In 2006, together with his father Salvatore, his uncle Franco Mastrandrea and the enologist Gianfranco Cordero, he decided to “get his hands dirty” putting together ideas, passion, time and resources to strengthen the link with Gangi and the estate, starting from what on that land had always been done but never rightly valued: wine!

The first deep-sea vines were replanted and reorganized, following the dictates of organic farming and in total absence of chemicals, and then wait, in 2012, the first 1.000 bottles of Syrah… from which it all began!

THE ESTATE

THE ESTATE

7 hectares of vineyard from which are harvested grapes of Syrah, Grillo, Pinot Noir, Nerello Mascalese, Moscato and Perricone, unique for flavors and aromas, happy combination of sea and sun, main features of Sicily and the land of the Madonie.

The farm, named after the San Giaime rural area, located on the mountains just outside Gangi, at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level, has 26 hectares of land partly already destined to arable land (ancient Sicilian grains), olive grove, almond grove, vegetables in greenhouses, and among the latest vineyards planted, also the Carricante, from which in 2026 a new exceptional and rare “Metodo Classico” sparkling wine was born.

All the production of the farm is certified organic in compliance with the cycles of nature, with the primary objective of safeguarding the territory, climate and human health. All activities in the vineyard and in the cellar are conducted limiting as much as possible human intervention. The fermentations are spontaneous and neither filtering nor clarifying are practiced. The desire is to produce wines that, reflecting the varietal diversity, the features of the territory and its origins, can express the true Terroir.
